I bought this snap shackle including shipping for $14. It is a heavy duty stainless steel extremely well made shackle. I don't own a sailboat but I do use it as a lanyard to attach it to one of my belt loops. To detach it I just pull on the ring and pull keys and all out of my pocket. I have seen similar shackles go for over $20 so considering both price and item quality it's a winner.

I ordered two of these snap shackles even though I don't have a plan for them yet.They function as they should; pull the ring and the gate drops open. The finish is nice and they have a good weight to them. My only complaint would be the preening of the hinge pin. It looks as if these could be seconds due to the off center and double hits. As I said they function just fine. I would take half a star off if I could but a whole star would be too much.

These can be difficult to find. Milspec Monkey has them powder coated in black and tan in the same size as this. MEGA strong! Use with genuine 750 paracord for a bracelet you could use to rappel out of a Blackhawk. Obviously much heavier and bulkier than plastic snap buckles; but if you're reading this then you don't care. Less big and heavy than your ginormous Navy Seal dive watch.

This shackle is really strong for its size and looks to be very durable. I haven't tested it to its strength limit but it looks like it will be able to take it.
