15.5 Lb. CQR Anchor, Galvanized Steel – FO349

I agree with previous comment stationg the arm is WAY to thick. I also couldnt find a shackle locally that fit the end. When i did locate one the pin did not go through and it was to big to fit through my anchor roller. Grinded both sides of anchor and finally got a U buckle to fit and then realized the knuckle was way to thick to fit in the 300$ anchor roller purchased off this site as well so i grinded both sides of knuckle a bit and was able to get it all to fit. First impressions anchoring in 15ft of sand with 50 ft of stainless chain backing this anchor with problems getting it to set. Normally i use a fluke anchor which sets first shot every time but this one i attempted 3 times with no success with slow and fast drift. This anchor has also went up by 50$ since purchased. My advice get a better brand with wider wings to avoid side sliding whoch i cam tell mine was doing.

The anchor was fine except for one important detail: the anchor shaft at the point of connection to the anchor rode was so thick I could not locate a shackle that would fit. All shackles with a mouth wide enough to fit over the end of the thick shaft had pins that were too thick to slide through the small hole at the end of the shaft. I did not want to drill out the hole as that would have ruined the galvanization in that area. I took the anchor to a local welder who fabricated a stainless steel shackle which will work fine...for $148.00! The anchor should be redesigned with a narrower shaft end to accommodate standard size shackles.
